Basic Chainsaw Safety (Coed)

For students with no little to no prior saw experience, Basic Chainsaw Safety is useful preparation for Game Of Logging Level 1 (it is not a prerequisite, however). Topics covered include the parts of a chainsaw, safety, and basic maintenance. There will be no tree-felling at this level and chainsaw use is limited to bucking logs.

Participants must bring their own PPE, including a safety helmet with face shield, eye and ear protection, and chaps, as well as lunch, water, and snacks for the day. Bringing a chainsaw is recommended, but not required. Visit https://www.woodlandtraining.com/faq/ for additional information.

Space is limited to 10 students. Available to participants aged 14 (with registered and paying parent/guardian over 18) and up. $250 / person. Register HERE.

Cancellation up to 10 days prior to the program will incur a $20 administrative fee. Cancellations made 10 or fewer days prior to the program will not be refunded, unless we are able to fill your spot, in which case you will receive a full refund, less the $20 administrative fee. Refunds will not be issued due to inclement weather. If a program is postponed due to extreme weather (a very rare occurrence), participants are expected to attend the program on the rescheduled date. Should Merck Forest cancel the program due to unforeseen circumstances, and the program is not rescheduled, a full refund will be issued.
