NORTHSHIRE GROWN: DIRECT
Northshire Grown: Direct is a direct-to-consumer local food purchasing program, developed in response to Covid-19.
In April, MFFC and local food system organizers contacted over forty area farms and food producers whose businesses had been financially damaged. We created an online, single point-of-contact system to connect consumers to these producers.
Since April 1st, $115,000 has gone back to support the local food economy in the Northshire and Mettowee Valley.
Four hundred fifty area residents have purchased 1600 boxes; and community “connectors” in Rupert, Pawlet and Dorset distributed another two hundred eighty boxes to neighbors in need of food assistance.
Fall markets will take place on September 16 and 30, October 14 and 21 at the Dorset Playhouse.
