SOLO Wilderness First Aid and CPR Course

Participants successfully completing this SOLO Wilderness program will receive certification in Wilderness First Aid or re-certification for Wilderness First Responders. The CPR Module is available for an additional cost of $40 (runs a little later that the First Aid course). May 4-5, 8:30am to 5pm each day, $200 ($240 with optional CPR Module). Forest health in Vermont

Level 1 (5/25, 8am-4pm, tuition $180 pp) focuses on introducing the participant to precision felling techniques. Level 2 (5/25, 8am-4pm, tuition $180 pp) focuses on maximizing chainsaw performance. Successful completion of Level I is required. Optional housing for participants Friday and Saturday night at the Barn Cabins at the rate of $10/person/night. Changes in the Vermont Landscape: Hike

A hike to explore the historical, cultural, social aspects of land changes in Vermont and at Merck Forest, along the Farm and Discovery trails. This hike will be of moderate difficulty and will take place weather-permitting; participants should have water & snacks, sturdy footgear, and be prepared for the weather.

Bats! Bats! Bats!

Learn about bats with a 45 minute presentation by Alyssa Bennett, Vermont's Fish and Wildlife state bat biologist, then  walk up to farm to observe these spectacular animals perform their nightly acrobatics on the farm.
