Nature Journalling: Capturing the Natural World

September 19 @ 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm

vermont children outdoor learning

A chance to explore, observe and document phenomena of the natural world, through the creation of a nature journal. Gather data as a citizen scientist!

Bring a lunch along and enjoy Merck’s scenery as we first delve into a discussion of the background and basic techniques of nature journaling. After lunch we’ll work through a number of nature journaling exercises that you can use anywhere, as we use the Northern Taconic landscape to make observations and document our findings through our journals.

Fee includes all the materials you’ll need for journaling (a sketchbook, colored pencils, regular pencils, eraser and sharpener); bring your favorite writing tools if you prefer.

Date is set for Saturday, September 19, with an alternative rain-date on Sunday, September 20. Please dress in layers, as weather conditions are cooler than in the valleys. (Participants will be notified early Saturday morning if we need to shift to Sunday due to wet weather conditions.).

* We’ll be following safety procedures as recommended by the State of Vermont regarding COVID-19.

Group size limited, so register HERE early.
