Game of Logging: Basic Chainsaw Use & Safety (Women Only)

Women’s Basic Chainsaw Safety is a chainsaw safety course for women who have no little to no prior saw experience. It leads into GOL Level 1 and Level 2, but is not a prerequisite for Level 1. Topics covered include the parts of a chainsaw, safety, and basic maintenence. Chainsaw use is limited to bucking, as students do not fell trees in Basic Chainsaw Safety. Participants must bring their own PPE, including a safety helmet with face shield, eye and ear protection, and chaps, as well as lunch, water, and snacks for the day. Bringing a chainsaw is recommended, but not required. Visit https://www.woodlandtraining.com/faq/ for additional information. Registration is required and space is limited. Ages 14 (with registered and paying parent or guardian over 18) and up. $220 / person. Saturday, May 6th, from 8am – 4pm.

Cancellation up to 10 days prior to the program will incur a $20 administrative fee. Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the program will not be refunded, unless we are able to fill your spot, in which case you will receive a full refund, less the $20 administrative fee. Refunds will not be issued due to inclement weather. If a program is postponed due to extreme weather (a very rare occurrence), participants are expected to attend the program on the rescheduled date. Should Merck Forest cancel the program due to unforeseen circumstances, and the program is not rescheduled, a full refund will be issued.
