Adopt-A-Cabin Merck Forest is instituting a new Adopt-A-Cabin program. The objective of the program is to give cabin users a chance to pitch in and help care for the cabins that they enjoy so much. The result will be that the cabins and their grounds will receive a higher level of care that will increase the enjoyment of all those who use the cabins.
The way the program will work is that a group will volunteer to adopt a cabin or shelter. You may select one from those available (some are already spoken for) and make a commitment to spend at least two weekends a year dedicated to working on cabin upkeep, including thorough spring and fall cleaning, small repairs and clearing of brush and other grounds work. More ambitious projects such as construction of woodsheds are possible, but are contingent upon approval from Merck Forest and close coordination with the staff.
Merck Forest will assist those adopting cabins by providing a detailed inventory of work the cabins need, tools and supplies to carry out the work and transportation of supplies if necessary.

Cabins are fully enclosed and each is equipped with a wood-burning stove, wooden bunks, and a nearby outhouse. The distances following each description are measured from the Visitor Center parking area. Water is available at pumps located at the Farm and the Lodge, although these can be frozen in winter. All water should be treated or boiled.

Members receive a 20% discount for weekend cabin rentals (Friday and Saturday night).
We offer reduced cabin rates during the week! Non-members receive 20% off and members receive 30% off cabin rentals Sunday through Thursday. Take advantage of this opportunity and stay with us during the week! Reduced rates are not in effect for shelters and/or tent sites.
